Durham County Council are asking local VCSE organisations to participate in the development of a new physical activity strategy.
Exercise is hugely important for both mental and physical health, particularly in the aftermath of Covid-19. Durham County Council recognises this, but it also acknowledges that activity levels are influenced by a range of factors, including income, air quality, disability and infrastructure.
The Council wants to adopt a long-term, system-wide approach to the complex problem of physical inactivity in Durham, engaging as many local stakeholders as possible. It is hoped that this collaborative approach will result in a physical activity strategy that responds to the needs of local communities and supports all people in County Durham to become more physically active, regardless of their individual circumstances.
How can you get involved?
Durham County Council is hosting two interactive workshops for VCSE organisations and other stakeholders to share their views on the new strategy, though attendance will only be required at one. The virtual workshops will take place at the following times:
Monday November 8th, 2-5pm
Wednesday November 10th, 1-4pm
To find out more about the consultation and confirm your attendance at one of the workshops, please email PHPhysicalActivity@durham.gov.uk stating your name, role and organisation.
